GI Bleeding scan

GI Bleeding scan with Tagged RBC

1. Preparation
    a. No patient preparation
2. Isotope administration
    a. Patient will receive intravenously 25 mCi Tc99m collected and labeled blood per UltraTag RCB kit.
      i. If proper IV size not available for UltraTag RCB kit, you can reconstitute pyrophosphate (PYP) intravenously and wait 30 minutes. In a 10cc syringe mix 25 mCi of Tc99m with 200 USP units of heparin lock flush. Into the same syringe draw 8cc of whole blood. Gently agitate the syringe and leave shielded container for 10 minutes.

3. Camera Parameters Planar imaging
    a. Dynamic Imaging
      i. LEHR collimators used for imaging
      ii. Matrix:128X128
      iii. Zoom:1
iv. Camera peaked at Tc99m with a 15% window
      v. Number of frames:63
vi. Time per frame: 60 seconds
      vii. Detector: 1
      viii. Orientation: stretcher mode
    b. Static Imaging
      i. LEHR collimators used for imaging
      ii. Matrix:128X128
      iii. Zoom:1
iv. Camera peaked at Tc99m with a 15% window
      v. Detector: 1
      vi. Orientation: stretcher mode
vii. Time: 300 seconds or 500 kcts

4. Scanning protocol
    a. An intravenous line will be placed in patients arm prior to being positioned under the camera
    b. Patients will be imaged on the stretcher they are transported on.
    c. The patients will be under the appropriate imaging detector with the xiphoid process placed at the top of the imaging field and urinary bladder at the bottom and centered.
    d. Patient will receive radiotracer tagged with UltraTag RCB kit or PYP.
    e. Acquire the dynamic images
    f. Acquire the static images, they are upper abdomen, lower abdomen, and lateral of the pelvic area to include the rectum.

5. Post processing/Display/Achieve
    a. All acquired images will be adjusted for optimal viewing and appropriate labeling.
    b. Images will be sent to the PAC's system archiving/physician review
