Sentinel Lymph Node Breast Protocol
- Preparation
- No patient preparation
- Isotope administration
- For same day surgery the patient will receive 2 subdermal injections of 0.5 mCi Tc99m labeled buffered sulfur colloid to each breast as ordered.
- The right breast in the upper outer quadrant and 9 o’clock location near the areola
- The left breast in the upper outer quadrant and 3 o’clock location near the areola
- For day prior to surgery the patient will receive 2 subdermal injections of 1 mCi Tc99m labeled buffered sulfur colloid to each breast as ordered.
- The right breast at the 12 and 9 o’clock location near the areola
- The left breast at the 12 and 3 o’clock location near the areola
- The breast indicated to be injected on the prescription will be correlated with the operating room schedule and an office note or an imaging report.
- The patient will be identified by name and date of birth.
